Brent is open for business.
Brent council spends around £220m a year with third parties and this is your opportunity to lead the team at the centre of it. The council has recently redefined the role of its central Procurement Team, with a clear focus on supporting the delivery of high quality, value for money services to Brent’s 300,000 residents, its businesses and communities. The team will also lead the development of the council’s contract management capabilities to ensure that those services are effectively managed and continue to provide value through their lifecycle. With the majority of the council’s budget spend with third parties, there is also a key role for delivering policy objectives through procurement – from social value to tackling modern slavery and building a healthy economy with the London Living Wage, Brent is leading the way on many aspects of responsible procurement.
We’re seeking to appoint a new Head of Procurement to lead these initiatives, with a rare opportunity for the successful candidate to build a new team around them. The groundwork for success has been laid, with the role of procurement in the organisation agreed with senior stakeholders and a new team structure designed to support this – our new Head of Procurement will have the opportunity to recruit to this structure, having the freedom to build a winning team.
You might come from a public or private sector background, or have a blend of both. You might be an established Head of Procurement or be looking for the next step in your career. Whatever your background, your future at Brent could be a bright one if you have the political astuteness, commercial acumen and, above all, passion required to take procurement at Brent Council to the next level. The foundations for a leading team are in place and we’re looking for a great candidate to build on them.
